Vera came to the competition with Nelly Saghatelyan from Armenia. At the tournament in China, the gymnast won bronze in the rope routine. Also competing in Beijing were Eva Kononova from the Tyumen Region and Sonya Vorobyova, Yana Sakovich, and Liza Geraskina from Moscow, all of whom had previously been coached by Vera Shatalina. At this event, Eva won gold in the clubs routine, silver in the hoop routine, and bronze in the all-around senior women's competition.

Simona Peycheva of Bulgaria, a guest of honor at the Sky Grace Cup International Tournament and Beijing Top Open 2025, recounted her decision to renounce her 2001 World Championship medals. At that time, the 16-year-old gymnast placed third in the hoop, ball, and clubs events in Madrid. After the decision to annul the results of Russian gymnasts Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chashchina, Simona took first place. However, the athlete disagreed.
