Athletes from Lugansk came to the training camp at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy. Their coach Maria Romanyuk shared her impressions of the invitation to Sochi.
“We've heard about Sky Grace a long time ago. We were here for the competition in the winter. We stood by the fence together, everyone made a wish to come here. We were invited to the training camp. The girls were, of course, extremely happy. They all jumped to the ceiling,” she said.
Maria also noted that the main goal of the training camp is to gain experience from leading experts, learn new elements and work with the objects, and also get an incentive for further work.
“We can already compete at high-level competitions like the Russian championships and all-Russian competitions. The girls need to be prepared for this, because we have both girls who have gone to training camps and those who have already traveled to the championship, to the Russian championship. In general, we need to get them into shape,” she said.
Classes in Sochi for the participants began with object preparation. The first training session with the jump rope was conducted by coach Anna Ustsova, 1996 European champion and international master of sports.
The Alina Kabaeva Charitable Foundation is the organizer of the gymnasts’ training camp, and have covered all the travel expenses, as well as accommodation and meals.
