A group of gymnasts from the Republic of Abkhazia came on a tour of the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastic Academy.
“We contacted the manager and asked to organize an excursion for all our children who wanted to come, to see this beauty,” said coach Irina Kitaeva.
She also thanked Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva for the invitation. “ What is offered to the children now, especially free of charge, this, of course, is a dream! Many thanks to Alina for the fact that she managed to create this kingdom of rhythmic gymnastics,” she said.
Rhythmic gymnastics in Abkhazia is just beginning to develop. “We have existed for about six months, we have been training since January of this year. The girls are still small, they can’t do much yet, but we’re making progress very quickly,” explained the President of the Abkhazia Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Gunda Kvarchia.
She stressed that for the first time the children saw a hall for rhythmic gymnastics like the one at the Academy. “The kids came for the first time. They see a hall like this for the first time in their lives, because, unfortunately, there are no halls like that in Abkhazia yet,” she added.
The young athletes watched how the Academy's gymnasts train, and also visited the museum dedicated to the history of rhythmic gymnastics.
