Cuban athletes came to Sochi to participate in the training camp at the Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics "Sky Grace".
"I love to train in your country. The first time I came to Russia was at the Alina Kabaeva Festival in May 2011. I was very young. And then I participated in this festival several more times. After that, all my sports dreams began to come true," Mendoza said.
Gretel will prepare a new program at the Academy, which she will perform at international competitions. Yulia Bravikova, a two—time European champion in rhythmic gymnastics, will participate in the production. According to the Russian, she is pleased to work with the Cuban athlete.
The camp will last a month. During the training, the Cubans will prepare for international starts. In April, they have scheduled qualifying competitions in Venezuela, then classification for the Pan American Games, which will be held in October in Chile. In addition, the gymnasts will perform at the World Championships in Valencia, Spain, in August.
