Cuban athletes Gretel Mendoza and Isabella Rojas, together with young students of the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmnic Gymnastics Academy are completing preparations for the international tournament in Minsk.
Academy coach Olesya Kovaleva, who has already helped Gretel and Isabella during the spring training camp, talked in detail about what the classes are like with the Cuban gymnasts.
"We have been working with them since March, and a lot of experts have been involved. Helped coordinate their program according to international rules with a specific set of elements. By the number of difficulties, skill and elements," she said.
The coach also explained how she and the Cuban gymnasts manage to overcome the language barrier.
"Gretel has good, advanced conversational English. Isabella is learning, she tries very hard. We often use a translator to learn some subtleties," she said.
