Sofia Vorontsova from Gatchina gets a second chance to try out for the Academy

A young athlete from Gatchina Sofia Vorontsova has come to the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy for the second time.

“I was given a second chance to get into the Academy. I am very happy about it,” she said.

The gymnast also admitted that the hall at the Academy is fundamentally different from the one where she trains in Gatchina: “There is a lot of space here. Lots of mats, you can move anywhere you want.”

At the last try-outs in May, Sofia was unable to perform the program due to anxiety. “I didn’t do the jumps, I was very nervous. Now my mind-set is different, because I understand that it is no longer scary,” she said.

According to Sofia, since the first selection process, she has managed to improve her flexibility, as well as improve the quality of her elements and jumps.

Currently, the young gymnast is working with Academy coaches and is preparing for the assessment training session.
