How do Academy specialists help gymnasts from the Republic of Congo prepare for competitions? Olesya Kovaleva tells us

Academy coach Olesya Kovaleva shared how our staff is helping gymnasts from the Republic of Congo prepare for the African Championships and the Olympic Games.

“We are now helping the girls with the training process with Olga Frolova, the girls are trying very hard. We are going to prepare a program for all the girls, since they have the African Championships in April and all of them will be participating, but one of the girls needs to be prepared for Olympic Games participation. It will be necessary to create four types of programs according to the International Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics rules,” Olesya said.

She noted that the young women are learning to do special warm-ups, which are necessary for rhythmic gymnastics.

“I think that the training process was completely different, because, judging by their warm-up, we saw that it was more like a general physical warm-up, like it's done for athletes. And in rhythmic gymnastics, of course, we not only need to do a general workout, but also a special physical warm-ups, that is, aimed at stretching, muscle building and strengthening, so now they are remembering these details and this warm-up,” she said.

Gymnasts from the Congo came to the Academy for a training camp, as well as to participate in the Alina-2024 festival. The camp was organized by the Alina Kabaeva Charitable Foundation, which covered all the expenses of the program.
