The coaches at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy pay special attention to the young athletes object training during the training camp. Elizaveta Chernova and Anna Ustsova help gymnasts master their technique of working with the ball and add more complex elements to their programs.
Coach Elizaveta Chernova works with a group of children born in 2014 and younger.
“We learn basic movements with them. The girls try to feel the ball, catch the balance so that it rolls, because it is important that the ball rolls over the body and does not jump. They make preparatory movements to get a feel for the ball. First, basic lessons, rolls, balance, how to hold it correctly, and then they move on to more complex elements, to risks, throws, catches, and so on,” Elizaveta said.
And specialist Anna Ustsova conducts subject training classes for the senior group.
“We do special physical training with the ball, and at the end we have risks to complete. We go through the risks that they have in the exercise, or we teach new ones,” Anna said.
The Academy is hosting a training camp under the guidance of coach Irina Dzyuba, bronze medalist of the 1996 Olympics, from October 9-13.
