Choreographer Ekaterina Belova uses the ball during classes with Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy students. The gymnasts place it under the supporting leg and do elements at the barre.
The coach spoke in detail about the particulars of this approach.
“The ball serves as a guide for us so that the gymnast does not turn the supporting leg at the time of the movement, that is, she is constantly working on turning it out. It is also so that she does not lower her maximum relevé. Also for the working leg, during the stretching of the foot, the instep has already been worked out, only the toes are working, that’s something that the gymnast usually does not do all the way. We also worked on the inner thigh muscles so that we had maximum control during the minimum movement,” Ekaterina said.
Along with Karolina Tarasova from Donetsk, the choreographer worked through three movements - battement tandu, battement tandu jete and ronde de jambe par terre.
Ekaterina Belova is the Academy choreographer and a former artist of the Igor Moiseev State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble.
