Why do preschoolers need rhythmics classes? Teachers from the Sirius Lyceum share their thoughts

The sense of rhythm is very important in rhythmic gymnastics, and it needs to be developed from an early age. That is why rhythmics classes are held for preschoolers of the Academy’s free early development groups.

For this purpose, teachers from the Sirius Lyceum specially have come to us and shared what they do with little gymnasts during training. Anna Brovich explained in detail how a sense of rhythm is developed in young gymnasts.

"Rhythm is a kind of feeling that is innate with some people and is fostered with others. The better our movements are synchronized with the music, the higher wow effect the audience will have. We are teaching the feeling of rhythm in different ways at workouts. What does it consist of? Firstly, it is critical for ears to follow the music, how the music evolves. We also formulate how they can hear the introduction and conclusion in music. And one of the basic things they need is to listen to the pulse of the music. We do all this in a playful way through different images. They don't even notice how serious the things we do are. Our subject matter develops both coordination and thinking." she said.

And Anna Pukhova also shared what progress the athletes have already achieved.

"It is critical that when girls appear on the floor, they must be so confident that they definitely know when a certain musical fragment will be playing. And they can pre-hear it only when they feel inside and they are in the synthesis of performance, beat and rhythm. If you come in and start practicing, for example, from the age of three or four, then we will see a significant result approximately at the age of five, six, seven or eight. There is already a small progress during this small period of time, two months. They are doing that at an instinctive level because the music leads them. And if the music leads, then the soul leads," Anna said.

Rhythmics is included in the curriculum for preschoolers from the Academy free early development groups.
