"The girls are excited about it." Ekaterina Belova about staging the Russian Field performance

Ekaterina Belova, Academy choreographer and former artist of the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble named after Igor Moiseyev spoke about the history behind the creation of the Russian Field performance.
"It was an assignment given by Alina Kabaeva. She selected the music - Iosif Kobzon’s song "Russian Field". We selected the costumes to match the image from the Alina festival, which took place here at the Sky Grace site. We also took daisies as the personification of flowers in the Russian field," Ekaterina said.
The choreographer also shared details about how the work on the performance is going with the Academy students.
"They are excited about this - these are children. Of course, they need a change of scenery, a distraction, a change in activity. And they try to help, try to suggest something. They may say, "I don’t feel comfortable working with this object." But we are learning new things, plus adding other choreography. In this dance we use Russian folk choreography, naturally, with elements of rhythmic gymnastics," she said.
The gymnasts at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy are preparing a showcase performance at a concert dedicated to the opening of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations competition in Sochi.
