“We will pay attention to coordination.” Coach Irina Dzyuba talks about the second round of the selection for the Academy

Irina Dzyuba, bronze medalist of the 1996 Olympics and the coach at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, spoke about the results of the first stage of preschooler additional education groups selection. 

Irina said that  after preliminary processing of applications, the coaches identified 150 girls who made it to the second round of the selection process. 

“We will pay more attention to coordination.  We’re going to introduce a new coordination task and see how attentive the child is, how ready she is to take in information and learn. Because, for example, it is obvious that some children are physically fit, but still seemed a little bit not quite ready for the information, they were a little distracted, they were inattentive. And there are those who are very efficient, even reacting very quickly to voices. And Alina Kabaeva will be with us, naturally. The final decision is always hers. And the entire coaching staff, of course, will take part in it,” she said.

She said that among the participants there are some memorable girls. 

“A very interesting girl came right at the very end. There are so many of them! There are probably 12-14 of these stars, according to my calculations. Just like that! It's obvious that this is ours! Without a doubt already,” she said. 

The second stage of the selection process starts on Tuesday, September 12.
