Russia’s Honored coach Alla Mishenina began teaching classes for preschoolers at the free additional education groups.
She spoke about her work as a coach at the Olympic Reserve Sports School and her students.
"I started working at the #1 Olympic reserve sports school in Sverdlovsk. We worked with Natalya Gorbulina. Out of our group came out Irina Zilber - Olympic champion in group exercises in 2000 in Sydney, then Vera Sesina - six-time world champion, Anna Gavrilenko became an Olympic champion in group exercise," Alla said.
The coach shared the details of the audition process into the new groups for the girls.
"First of all, we pay attention to the physical abilities of the gymnast. We look at the proportions of the body: the length of the legs, arms. We also look at the child's data such as stretching, flexibility, foot, launch, physical abilities. Or we look at how we can develop the abilities without causing damage to the child’s health, since here the requirements will be increased, because the work will be set towards a result," she said.
The coach also noted the conditions in which the young athletes train.
"The scale and beauty of it are amazing. Everything is well thought out and convenient for the training process. Such a bright, friendly attitude in everything. You want to be here, to study, to become better, to give the girls everything you know and can do. Instill in them a love of rhythmic gymnastics," she said.
Alla will be sharing her experience and knowledge both with the youngest Academy gymnasts from the free additional education groups, as well as with the older students.
