The international Alina Kabaeva Grand Prix Champions Cup tournament will be held on March 14-15 in St. Petersburg.The competition will be hosted by the SKA Arena. Seniors will compete in individual and group routines.Academy gymnasts participating in the tournament include Mariia Borisova from St. Petersburg, Eva Kononova from the Tyumen Region, Arina Kovshova from the Novosibirsk Region, Alexandra Borisova from Moscow, and our group gymnasts.&nbsp;Also competing under the quota of the International Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Association are Vladislava Sharonova, Alisa Medvedeva, Ekaterina Sazonova, and Nicole Rimarachin Diaz.

Competitions

Natalia Belugina, the Alina Festival choreographer, has choreographed programs for many girls from Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy for this season, in particular Eva Kononova. After the Russian Championship, the specialist shared her impressions of Eva's performance:<blockquote>"I really liked it, especially the hoop routine. She has a Sherlock Holmes routine there, and she captured the image perfectly. New rules. Maybe more emotion is needed now, and Eva nailed it. I'm really happy she won the hoop."</blockquote>She also talked about the work on the production and the choice of musical composition for the program:<blockquote>"It's probably just that we already know what Eva can do, how she moves, what emotions she has. So, we listen to a lot of music and are like, 'Oh! This fits.' And it turned out that this music suited her very well."</blockquote>And she noted the positive character traits of Eva Kononova:<blockquote>"Eva works really hard. Even if, say, a coach watches another gymnast because she's performing to the music, Eva will do a lot, a lot, a lot herself. She doesn't need to be forced. And that's a really cool thing about an athlete. It's probably the best thing there is."</blockquote>

Elizaveta Chernova is the coach of the new Russian champion Arina Kovshova from the Novosibirsk Region. She spoke about the help of Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva during the preparation for the Russian Championship and congratulated the team of specialists on their victory:<blockquote>"Our preparation was tough. We were in the gym from morning until night, probably like every athlete. We were preparing. Alina Maratovna was always in touch. We had more than just one coach behind us, but a huge, huge team. So, congratulations to everyone."</blockquote>She also shared her emotions from the final day of the tournament:<blockquote>"The atmosphere was so captivating, I still can't quite believe it. The emotions were diverse, but now, I think, they're emotions of joy and happiness. And we really did a great job with the first three events, very well. And now it's all behind us; we're taking what happened as an experience and moving forward."</blockquote>The Academy specialist also spoke about the character traits of Arina Kovshova that helped her win:<blockquote>"She did a great job, because this is her first appearance after a long break. And she fought so hard, not just to perform, but to actually fight and win... She's a very strong-willed girl."</blockquote>

Sofia Ilteryakova won silver in the all-around at the Russian Championship. The gymnast shared her emotions after the award ceremony and talked about the goals she set for herself:<blockquote>"Actually, I'm very happy. There was no specific task to get on the podium. The task was to perform well in the all-around competition, to complete it cleanly, without any losses, and beautifully."</blockquote>She also answered how she assesses her performances on the final day of the competition:<blockquote>"There was a loss in the ball exercise, but I am satisfied with today."</blockquote>The gymnast also talked about preparing for her first Russian Championship:<blockquote>"We trained at the base in Novogorsk. We had assessment training sessions. The judges arrived. They told us what was not valid for us. And we tried to correct these mistakes so that they would not be repeated at competitions."</blockquote>

Eva Kononova is the all-around bronze medalist of the Russian Championship. After the award ceremony, the gymnast shared her impressions of the tournament:<blockquote>"The emotions are just incredible. Because even now I'm standing here with a medal, with a cup, but I can't believe that I have just stood on the podium and took the third place."</blockquote>She also appreciated her performances:<blockquote>"Unfortunately, the ball did not work out with me today, but we'll keep working. Because after my loss, I still pulled myself together, which means I'm a fighter."</blockquote>The gymnast thanked Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva and the Academy team for their help in preparation:<blockquote>"I would like to thank everyone who helped me. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Alina Maratovna and all the coaches: Evgenia Mikhailovna, Olga Dmitrievna, and my choreographer Lyudmila Duganova. I want to thank the entire Academy because they sat with me every day until almost nightfall."</blockquote>Eva also won gold in the hoop and silver in the ribbon final. Her coaches are Evgeniya Eliseeva and Olga Minigalina, and her choreographer is Lyudmila Duganova.

I always try to understand and do what she says."</blockquote>In January of this year, Arina moved to the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy. She is currently training under the guidance of Elizaveta Chernova, and her choreographer is Elena Egorova. Olympic champions Alina Kabaeva and Evgenia Kanaeva also work with the athlete. Previously, Arina practiced with Tatiana Amelchenko.

At the Russian Championships, Lidiya Ivanova, the two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics team competitions, the two-time world champion, and the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, shared her impressions of the performances and told what the secret of champions is:<blockquote>"In hellish toil. Even when I watch all the programs today, I think, my goodness, what lovely girls, how beautiful they are. Some stand out with even greater skills. We currently have Mariia Borisova. She's a real gem, but she's so nervous. This is a normal phenomenon. You know, when they call your name and you step out onto that big stage and have to show everything you've learned. Believe me, it's not just one person whose knees are shaking; everyone is nervous. But the athlete who manages also to overcome these internal struggles and demonstrate in full everything she is able to do at that moment is bound to succeed. Rhythmic gymnastics has taken the whole country — that's great. I am in favor of girls listening to music, knowing how to dance, and using their imagination. And skill is honed in sports halls endlessly, monotonously."</blockquote>She explained why the continuity of generations is important in gymnastics:<blockquote>"It's so important when they see such a master of their sport nearby. She'll show you the movement, so try to do it like she does. When you talk about charisma, charisma is probably different in that it is not the same for everyone; everyone has their own. But the movement, a certain playfulness, the position of the hand, foot, nose... I think they have a magical situation. This is important, and it's wonderful; it's a huge help."</blockquote>
