Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo in St. Petersburg Jocelyne-Patrick Mandzela talks about the athletes' training camp at the Martial Arts Academy

A team of judokas and sambo wrestlers from Congo came to the training camp at the Martial Arts Academy together with Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo in St. Petersburg Jocelyne-Patrick Mandzela.

Honorary Consul of the Republic of Congo in St. Petersburg Jocelyne-Patrick Mandzela spoke about the goals of the Congolese judokas and sambo wrestlers at the training camp in Sirius:

"I can say that Congolese athletes have very strong motivation, they practice a lot. And the trip to Russia for a training camp is indeed very important. The boys and girls need to catch every moment to build up their experience and strengthen skills. This is particularly important for our athletes because the judo team is going to Cote d'Ivoire — the African judo championship of adults will be held in Abidjan. And the sambo team will perform at the African sambo championship that will be held in Guinea," the Consul said.

He also noted the benefits of Martial Arts Academy training.

"Russian judoka and sambo wrestlers are rightfully considered to be among the strongest in this sport. Practicing together with them will help our boys and girls to adapt to high competition in their further career. The boys and the girls have plenty of emotions now. This is anxiety — they are coming to Russia for the first time. This is joy from being provided with such opportunity. And, certainly, excitement from upcoming training sessions.  I would like to express gratitude to the Martial Arts Academy in Sirius from the Republic of Congo for help in organizing and conducting this training camp," he said.
