She started practicing rhythmic gymnastics at the age of seven. Her mom noticed an advertisement that Ksenia Dzhalaganiya opened a rhythmic gymnastics club in Dubai, and Elissar went for a trial with her friends. She was practicing figure-skating at that moment already and continued doing both things. She chose rhythmic gymnastics eventually but dropped professional training soon. She decided at the age of 13 that she wanted to return to professional workouts and had the desire to participate in all the competitions she had ever dreamed of.
Elissar became the first gymnast from Syria that took part in the world championships.
