The gymnast is from Saratov. She went in for dances for three years at first but once she saw the performance of World and European champion Alexandra Soldatova with the ribbon. She showed it to her mom and said, "I want to be there." Alexandra Soldatova is Karina’s idol since then.
Favorite elements of the gymnast are the planche pivot, the jete en tournant leap with the trunk bend, and the fouette pivot.
The athlete is training under the guidance of Olympic champion Yulia Barsukova and USSR Master of Sports Olga Nesterova.
