Alina Kabaeva
In 2002, the same lineup participated at the AEON Cup club world championship as in the previous season. Future Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva and silver medalist of the 2004 Olympics Irina Chashchina represented Russia in the senior program, while Olga Peskisheva was in the junior program.
Our athletes once again won all the gold medals of the tournament. They took first place in the team competition, Alina Kabaeva was first in the all-around among seniors, and Olga Peskisheva — in the juniors all-around. Irina Chashchina won silver in the all-around among seniors.
That same year, Alina Kabaeva won two gold medals at the European Championships in the Spanish city of Granada — in the individual all-around and in the team competition.
