That year, future Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chashchina performed in the senior program in Tokyo, while Olga Peskisheva performed with the juniors.
In 2001, the gymnasts of our country won all the possible gold medals at this tournament. Alina Kabaeva and Olga Peskisheva were the first in the all-around in their categories, and together the athletes won the team gold. Irina Chashchina also became the owner of the silver medal among seniors.
