Future Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva stepped onto the AEON Cup mat for the first time in 1996. She competed in the junior category and won. After that, she won the tournament six more times — a year later in the junior category, and then five times among the seniors.In the senior category, Russia was represented by Yana Batyrshina and Amina Zaripova in 1996, as at the previous competitions. Following the successful performance of our gymnasts at the AEON Cup World Club Championships, we decided to remember everyone who represented Russia at this tournament over the years.In 1995, these competitions were held for the second time.
