Gymnasts who represented Russia at the AEON Cup — 1996

Future Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva stepped onto the AEON Cup mat for the first time in 1996. She competed in the junior category and won. After that, she won the tournament six more times — a year later in the junior category, and then five times among the seniors.

In the senior category, Russia was represented by Yana Batyrshina and Amina Zaripova in 1996, as at the previous competitions. In the same year, Batyrshina became the silver medalist of the Olympics in Atlanta, and Zaripova took fourth place.
