Alina Kabaeva, Irina Viner, and Elena Shmeleva opened Games of Countries international tournament

The opening ceremony of the Games of Countries international tournament was held in the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy on Saturday, October 21.

Chairperson of the Council of the Sirius Federal Territory Elena Shmeleva welcomed participants in the contest,

"I sincerely congratulate you on this significant event and welcome you to the Sirius Federal Territory. All conditions have been created here for training, for competitions, for the exchange of experience, creation and development of unique standards, as it is happening here at the Sky Grace."

President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics and head coach of the Russian national team Irina Viner recalled how our sport changed after the arrival of Alina Kabaeva.

"I'm very, very glad to be here again, at a competition that was organized, is being organized, and will be organized by the best gymnast in the world, Alina Kabaeva. The rise of rhythmic gymnastics began with her. And at the Olympic Games as early as in London - it was the most popular sport. And it all started with this girl. We made such programs, such interesting elements that the whole world is trying to do up to this day but cannot."

The official opening of the international tournament took place after the speech of Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva.

"Today I am very pleased to be here, to open the tournament. And not just open a tournament, but according to the Sky Grace International Association rules. I’m very glad that there are more of us, more like-minded people. I wish everyone the best of luck! May the strongest always win! I declare the Games of Countries tournament at the Sky Grace open!"

The Games of Countries international tournament is being held in Sochi from October 19 to 22.
