"Sky Grace" is back! Athletes from 14 countries will meet at the tournament in Sochi
The competitions will be held from December 2 to 4 at the new Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
This is the second Sky Grace — the first took place last year. The project is unique in that the athletes do not perform according to generally accepted international rules. In 2021, the competitions held in Moscow became notable for the fact that the rules of 2005 and 2022-2024 were combined: part of the regulations was taken from the period when Alina Kabaeva shone on the carpet. The idea of the tournament belongs to the Olympic champion-2004, and her charitable foundation acted as the organizer. This year Sky Grace will be held in Sochi, at the new Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
The girls will compete in the all-around, but with one unusual detail for today: in addition to standard exercises with a hoop, ball, mace and ribbon, the gymnasts will prepare performances with a rope. At adult starts, this subject has not been used since 2011, remaining only with juniors.
The composition of the participants in 2022 is solid. In addition to the winner of last year 's tournament , Lala Kramarenko , only from Russia announced four more gymnasts: Vladislava Sharonova, Maria Pobedushkina, Anastasia Guzenkova and Maria Borisova. Anastasia Salos, one of the strongest "artists" in the world, will come from Belarus. Sochi will also host athletes from 12 more countries — from Armenia and Uzbekistan to China and Slovakia.
The level of participants of Sky Grace is constantly growing. This is easily understandable — everyone is interested in trying new things and fighting with colleagues from different countries. A year ago, the tournament presented many surprises to the audience — from the performances of the prima of the Bolshoi Theater Svetlana Zakharova and the famous ballet dancer Sergei Polunin to the joint appearance of almost all Olympic champions in the individual all-around. This year, the organizers are not going to lower the high bar, and we are waiting for a real holiday of rhythmic gymnastics.
