“The best gymnasts in the world will be able to gather in China." Zhong Ling on hosting the Sky Grace Tournament in Shanghai

The Zhong Ling Cup international rhythmic gymnastics tournament is held for the 12th time and bears the name of one of the most successful Chinese gymnasts Zhong Ling, the champion of the 2002 Asian Games and a participant in the 2004 Olympic Games.

 Zhong Ling is not only the inspiration and organizer of the competition, but also the judge of the tournament. She told us about the Sky Grace 2023 tournament in Shanghai:

 “I think this is a very good opportunity for all athletes in the Asian region, because we have very high expectations for Russian rhythmic gymnastics, as well as for the best gymnasts in the world to be able to gather in China”.  

Zhong Ling also noted the importance of international cooperation in sports between Russia and China:

“2023 is the year of sports and cultural cooperation between our countries. Including the government, all departments place great importance on these competitions. We hope to strengthen the friendship between the two countries through athletes, sports interaction”.

 The legend of Chinese rhythmic gymnastics also shared her impressions of the Academy training camp, where she came with her students this past spring:

 “In April of this year, we came to the Alina Rhythmic Gymnastics Festival, where we spent ten days there. In addition to training, we also participated in training camp. I think that children from China need to come to Sochi more often to get experience. Because if you just look at photos or videos, and not be physically present there, then you miss the opportunity to gain new knowledge, learn something new. I hope that in the future we will be able to bring even more Chinese children to Sochi to participate in the training camp".

 The Zhong Ling Cup International Tournament takes place in Beijing, August 10-13.
