Yana Zaikina and her coach Elizaveta Chernova talk about the performance at the international competitions in Baku
After the international Winter Fairytale tournament in Baku, Yana Zaikina from Volgograd spoke about her performances with new routines, which were created for her by the Alina festival choreographer Irina Zenovka and two-time Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva.
"On the first day I performed my new ribbon, which Evgeniya Kanaeva put together for me. I prepared it in a week and performed quite well. Then I also performed my new clubs, which Irina Zenovka put together for me. I performed them well, without any losses. It’s a great responsibility, I wanted to show the whole program as it was put together for me, with emotions, so that the director herself would like it, so that she would say that I’m great! Alina Kabaeva also helped, of course, a big thank you to her! Another big thank you to Elizaveta Chernova for getting me ready for this tournament," the gymnast said.
The athlete's coach Elizaveta Chernova assessed the student's performance and summed up the results of the competition.
"It’s very good that we came here, tested new programs in a big arena like that, and when we come home, we will definitely work on our mistakes. Yana Zaikina performed a new ribbon yesterday. I am very pleased with her, because not everyone can come out with a new program, especially with new rules. She showed character and did the exercise. The second part was generally successful for us, we will work on the first. It was probably also scary, unfinished. So we will adjust it. Evgeniya Kanaeva came and put together amazing programs, and working with specialists like that is simply a great honor," she said.
Yana Zaikina from Volgograd became the winner of the international Winter Fairytale tournament in the ribbon exercise among gymnasts born in 2011.
