"I tried to compete and show what I'm capable of, so I don't regret anything." Sofia Ilteryakova talks about the results of the European Championship

At the European Championships in Varna, Sofia Ilteryakova won gold in the hoop exercise, bronze in the ball, as well as in the team competition with Maria Borisova, Eva Kononova and the group team.

The gymnast told how she remembered the tournament in Bulgaria:

"We came to represent our country well, to perform well, and to showcase ourselves. The experience was nothing but positive. I really enjoyed everything; the atmosphere was so welcoming because our fans came. The Russian flag, the 'Russia, go!' chant, it was incredibly helpful, incredibly motivating. A huge thank you to the fans who gave us so much support. It really helps us! Of course, we'll work on it, we'll review some of the programs, and maybe adjust some things. Of course, I'm most happy for the clubs in the all-around final, which also turned out well. And, in general, I'm happy with almost all of my performances at the European Championship. I tried to perform, to show my best on the floor, to the best of my ability, so I don't regret anything. Everything happens for the best. So it's meant to be."

Sofia shared how she felt when the Russian national anthem was played in honor of her victory:

"Pride that our anthem was about to play. I was incredibly happy, even when the anthem started, I started singing, cried a little, and realized how wonderful it was that after so many years we were back with the flag. And it was wonderful that our anthem was playing."
