"I'm very pleased with myself." Karolina Tarasova talks about her performance at the Crystal Rose international competition

Academy gymnast Karolina Tarasova summed up her performance at the Crystal Rose international tournament and noted her progress:

"This is not my first time performing here. It was indeed a battle here. I'm very happy with myself. It's been a long time since I was performing at the Crystal Rose, apparently all the elements were like hard for me, I was simply just learning them. It is much easier to make all the elements now. I learned well how to make the rear turn with standing up; I try to spin a lot in the planche turn."

She spoke about the preparations for the competition and thanked the Academy team for their help and support:

"The psychologist helped me — Irina Kozyr. We had a camp, the recovery one, with the head coach of the Russian national team. We ran every morning, went to the seaside, recovered and prepared for the next events. I want to say many thanks to Alina Kabaeva, Evgenia Eliseeva, psychologist Irina Kozyr, all doctors, massage therapists, all Academy staff, Olga Minigalina, Elizaveta Chernova, my parents and my family for supporting me, to all my friends and girls that competed with me. They also made me stronger because I want to be better. And I would like to wish everyone great success. I love everyone so much."

In addition, during the tournament, Caroline surprised everyone by performing a pirouette in back balance. The gymnast shared why she risked performing this element:

"I wasn't even surprised, because I often managed to spin like this during workouts, and I didn't even notice how I made such spin. I just went on doing the exercise and tried to ignore it so as not to relax."

At the Crystal Rose international tournament, Karolina Tarasova won four medals: she became the second in the ribbon and ball exercise and won bronze with clubs in the junior program.
