"Not everything depends on you." Alina Makarenko talks about the difficulty of group exercises

Olympic champion of the London 2012 Games, coach of the national team of the subjects of the Russian Federation Alina Makarenko came to the Russian championship.

At the competitions in Kazan, her students won gold in the all-around in the Master of Sports Candidate program.

The specialist explained the difficulty of the group exercises.

"In a group exercise, it is very important to find an individual approach to each athlete. That is, they are all different. Someone needs to ignore mistakes before the performance so that they don't get hung up, we need to motivate someone, we need to assemble someone, and someone just needs to speak calmly in an even tone. It's very important to understand this, and then you get a decent performance. Here, the exercise lasts two minutes and 30 seconds, unlike the personal program. In the personal program, the exercise is 30 minutes. That is, concentrating for two minutes and 30 seconds is not so easy. Keep that concentration, keep that team spirit, feel your teammate. It's very difficult. The difficulty is that everything depends not only on you."

Alina also shared the secrets of the gymnasts' attitude before going on the carpet.

"I once competed in the Russian Championship in my personal program and even took first place with rope. I've never had any stress during a performance. I knew how to work with myself, which I teach children, that you need to speak very coolly. I think this calmness is passed on to children."
