Participant of the New Year Wish Tree Olya Shcherbakova receives an invitation to the Christmas training camp

Olya Shcherbakova from Rostov-on-Don wished for a meeting with her idol,  Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva New Year Wish Tree after which she received an invitation to the Christmas training camp.

After arriving in Moscow, the young athlete shared her emotions.

"I started going to gymnastics, and my mother started showing me all the performances of all the gymnasts, and then my mother showed me the performance by Alina Kabaeva, I liked it very much. And I really dreamed of meeting her, getting to know her. And so I wrote. I was very happy, I immediately started practicing, doing the splits. I knew that one day my wish would come true, and I started working hard," Olya said.

Her mother Nadezhda Shcherbakova told in detail how the girl’s wish came true.

"I couldn't even imagine, when we wrote the letter, we made a wish, we, of course, hoped that everything would work out.  When they started calling me and saying that our wish was selected , I sat, I hugged Olya, she did not fully understand what was happening. I'm sitting there, tears streaming down my face. Even when Alina Kabaeva called us - simply indescribable emotions. Alina Kabaeva picks up the phone and talks to Olechka, asks her how she is doing, says that she will also be very happy to see us, and invites us to the training camp. We did not expect it. It's just a real New Year's miracle, it's a New Year's fairy tale, and I hope that everything will go really well. We already like everything very much," the mom said.

The training camp for athletes, in which Olya Shcherbakova is participating, was organized by the founders of the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, held from January 3 to 16.
