Ulyana Trofimova, the coach and the participant in the 2012 Olympics in London as part of the Uzbekistan’s team, came to the Academy for the recovery camp together with gymnast Adel Dotsenko.
The specialist spoke about the importance of participating in the Crystal Rose International tournament:
"We were at the Crystal Rose and we really enjoyed it two years ago, so we decided to try our hand at participating in this tournament. This is an international tournament, there are judges from different countries, and including Belarus. And Belarus is also our direct competitor, so to speak. And it’s very interesting to compete with girls of a very high level, and to be judged by high-level judges."
She shared what she is working on with the gymnast on the eve of the competitions:
"It seems to me that the children have lost a little in performing on their feet, let’s say, on their backs, and all this needs to be cleaned out, and even more artistry needs to be added. That is, what happened last season is no longer enough. We need to work more on both artistry and performance in the next season, plus we are making the program a little more difficult. Of course, there are still some rough spots, and we are working on all of them. We changed the exercise in two months. Our image turned out to be a kind of a cosmic, as it seems to me, an alien one. And the exercises also have such unusual movements. They are not quite standard, they are not classical, not from dance, but something more modern."
She also noted the help of the senior coach of the Russian national team Marina Govorova:
"When I first started working with Marina Govorova, I had a notebook. I sat next to her and just listened to her comments, what she said to the girls. And I had all the sheets filled with notes, and I was writing down the comments directly. Because it is very interesting to work with Marina Govorova. She does not only explain to the gymnast, she first and foremost teaches the coach. She might come up and give some advice."
The recovery camp will last until July 21.
