Academy coach Evgeniya Eliseeva sums up the results of the Sky Grace gymnasts performance at the international tournament in Spain

After the end of the Winter Queen Cup tournament in Spain, Academy coach Evgeniya Eliseeva summed up the results of the competition.
"An excellent tournament, wonderful audience, very supportive and rooting for us. We liked everything so much. The girls were very focused. The season has just started after the New Year holidays, the programs are new and the cycle is new. But I liked that they worked, you know, with awareness, with focus, tried to do their maximum, and were not distracted by anything. The performances were quite beautiful and quite picturesque," she said.
She explained why international competitions are so important for our athletes.
"A great experience. It's a step forward, because gymnastics is different in every country anyway, including the requirements. It was very interesting to compete. So many countries came. Each girl is different - some with artistry, some with risks, some with elements, amplitude. All the schools are different; all the schools are strong. I liked many countries very much. Belarus stands out by their incredible apparatus handling, by their risks. They are so unafraid of doing them that it fascinates. We have the amplitude, we have the width, artistry, again, we have our own zest," the coach said.
She also shared her plans for the new season.
"The plans for this season are great. We await Russia’s championship; the championship of Russia is ahead, we will prepare. A very important competition. And plenty of international events, so there are plenty of interesting things ahead," she said.
The international Winter Queen Cup tournament was held from January 22 to 26 in Playa de Aro, Spain. Evgeniya Eliseeva's student Karolina Tarasova won gold in the all-around junior program, came first in the hoop and clubs events, second in the ball and ribbon events, and Anna Vakulenko from Volgograd won four bronze medals: in the all-around and the hoop, ball and clubs events.
