Academy coach Anna Ustsova assessed the students’ results at the Shining Star tournament

Anna Ustsova, Academy coach and 1996 European champion spoke about the students’ results at the tournament in Tashkent and about the importance of competitions like these for young gymnasts.

"Our girls performed well, I can praise them. Yes, of course, not everything worked out, yes, some types were better, in some types they made mistakes. But these are all teachable moments, we will work on all of this. And it’s great that there are tournaments like this where you can still present yourself, test yourself for some important competitions."

The coach explained how the transition from the Sky Grace rules to the international ones took place.

"We switched a little from Sky Grace to FIG. Some things were removed and more expensive elements were inserted, which we have according to FIG. But still tried very hard not to change the exercises for the children," Anna said.

The coach also thanked Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva for her support.

"I really liked it in Uzbekistan. Thanks to Alina Kabaeva for the opportunity to be here, to see Uzbekistan and Tashkent. A great thanks to her for that. We felt her support too," she said.

The international Bright Star tournament  was held in Tashkent, November 9-13. According to the results of the competition, the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy students won six medals.
