Coach Alina Gusarova sums up the performances of the Academy gymnasts at the St. Petersburg championship

Coach Alina Gusarova summed up the performances of the Academy students at the St. Petersburg championship.

"First of all, we are glad that we came here. We haven’t performed on our home ground in our city for a long time, we are very glad that we did it now. Of course, not all the performances went well. But we have something to work on, we will try to make sure that everything works out at the next competition," the coach said.

Alina told us what our gymnasts did well and what they still need to work on.

"Veronika Malinina performed well overall. She passed all the events more or less except for clubs. Veronika Solomatina performed according to the candidates now. She was born in 2012. Karolina Pakhtusova tried very hard, she really wanted not to let us down. She really wanted to show her best. And this hyper-responsibility of hers, unfortunately, let her down today. Miroslava came with us to St. Petersburg to perform, to try out, because she performs very little, the more performances she has, the better. Lia Rodionova did a good job, she tried. She worked with Olga at the Academy, here I just helped her, suggested something if she needed it. She's great. She approached the competition responsibly, and she did well," she said.

She also shared her goal for the Russian championship.

"We will prepare hard, train, work on artistry, on the programs completely. So that the children come out confident, try hard, and do not make the mistakes that may have been made now," Alina said.

The St.Petersburg Championship was held in the Zhemchuzhina Rhythmic Gymnastics Center from February 26 to March 1.
