"There's a lot more expression and artistry." Lala Kramarenko talks about trends in gymnastics and motivation to return to the competition carpet

The 2024 Russian Champion and three-time World Junior Champion attended the tryouts for the Cup of Strongest finals.

The athlete shared her impressions of the programs of the participants of the competition:

"I saw the juniors for the first time. The girls have a very interesting program. They're much more expressive and artistic, which I think is really important for rhythmic gymnastics. So I'm glad I was able to come today. I saw a lot of accents in the music. Now they need at least two slowdowns, changes in rhythm. That's why it's so beautiful. I didn't notice anything like that before. But now the program truly feels like art and a performance."

Lala also told what motivates her to return to the competition carpet:

"First and foremost, it's now receiving neutral status and, of course, the international arena. I really want to go back and experience the emotions I experienced when I was competing. These big arenas, girls from other countries, with whom we were constantly communicating, shared emotions and experiences, too. That's probably why it was all this communication. God willing, I hope I'll be able to return and show new programs, because when a gymnast matures, I think both the programs and the feeling are different when the audience watches you. Gymnastics isn't just about elements, lots of repetoitions of risks, skills, it's also about art, about your own personal experiences and emotions. So I hope I'll be able to return and show a different kind of rhythmic gymnastics."

The final of the Cup of the Strongest is taking place in Moscow from October 19 to 21.
