Top category coach Natalia Alexeeva from Yekaterinburg, who had come to the Way to Victory training camp in Sochi together with her gymnasts, visited the Academy museum.
The specialist was happy to find information about her fellow countrywoman Liliya Nazmutdinova, the four-time champion and the first USSR Master of Sports in rhythmic gymnastics.
"A gorgeous museum! I looked at the history; the first Master of Sports is Liliya Nazmutdinova, she is from the city of Yekaterinburg. They have a dynasty, four sisters. It was very nice to see her on the poster."
She also recalled performances of Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva.
"I watched Alina Kabaeva’s performances. I loved her when she performed. I really liked her: emotional, a very chic gymnast, flexible.
Natalia also explained advantages of Sky Grace rules.
"We came to the Sky Grace Cup competition, my girls performed there. We jumped from the Russian rules to the Sky Grace, managed to prepare in a short period of time, it was difficult, but possible. Overstretching is highly valued, that is, if the leg goes beyond the split, then it’s added 0.1 in each element, that’s where strong flexibility is highly valued, and not a set of elements, as in the Russian rules."
