“The most important thing in rhythmic gymnastics is harmony.” Russia’s Honored coach Irina Chernyshkova about the role of artistic presentation

Russia’s Honored coach and judge from the Ivanovo region Irina Chernyshkova, who led one of the parts of the Sky Grace rules seminar spoke about the importance of artistic presentation in rhythmic gymnastics.
“The most important thing in rhythmic gymnastics is harmony. Harmony of all components. And if there is no artistry, everything else becomes completely unimportant. Because our sport combines four types of art: music, dance, circus art and theater. And here the gymnast must be an actress. Of course, there are unique children who simply by nature cannot perform non-artistically. And the most important task for the coach is to teach them to further the right way, to move well within the elements of the body and object, while maintaining their individuality,” Irina said.
The coach also explained what exactly artistry is.
“If a gymnast comes out, strikes the first pose and starts moving with emotion, there will be silence in the hall. This is the assessment of artistry,” she said.
A seminar for judges and coaches on judging by the Sky Grace International Rhythmic Gymnastics Clubs Association was held at the Academy January 13 through 14.
