“To be here is happiness for everyone.” The Olympic champion-2000 Elena Shalamova about the EVGENIYA CUP Tournament

The 2000 Olympic champion Elena Shalamova told how she received an invitation to become a judge at the EVGENIYA CUP, the Evgenia Kanaeva tournament in Omsk.
"It was really nice! Elena Arais is one of Evgenia Kanaeva’s coaches, and she invited me. I was flattered!" Shalamova said.
She said she was glad to be a part of such a large scale event. “To visit the tournament of a great person [Evgenia Kanaeva], where Olympic champions are made, this is probably the definition of happiness for everyone,” she said.
Shalamova stressed that she really likes the organization of the tournament. “There are competitions out there that are just an athletic event, but here, there is a family atmosphere and it’s really nice to speak with everyone,” the Olympic champion.
The EVGENIYA CUP international tournament named after two-time Olympic champion Evgenia Kanaeva is underway in Omsk, April 28-30. Gymnasts from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Cuba and thirteen Russian regions will take part in the competition.
