“They are very hard workers and have done well in training!” Olga Frolova about the Congo gymnasts training at the Academy

Before the end of the training camp for gymnasts from Congo, Academy coach Olga Frolova assessed the progress of the athletes.

“Gymnasts from the Congo came for the first time to the Academy with the goal of raising the level of their professional skills. After working with them, we held a master class for them, which included different types of warm-ups, subject training, special physical training, and general physical training. We also created new exercises for them with objects, because they had none before. Or there were exercises, but they were not at all according to the rules. We have now compiled everything as necessary according to the international gymnastics rules. Now the girls are preparing for the African Championships, and one of them is preparing for the Olympic Games. That is, every possible, maximum effort was made to ensure that the girls gained experience and performed well at the competitions,” she said.

The coach also told how the gymnasts’ training process had gone.

“They are not used to a workload like that.  We took breaks, of course, we got into the groove, but over time they got used to it, and eventually they began to endure two training sessions without a problem. It’s not easy for them, and for their coaches too. But they are very hardworking and performed well in the training process. It was clear that they were very interested in what they liked. Even the girls themselves said: “It’s hard for us, but we are interested, we like it, we want to develop further in this, and when we return we will pass on the experience to the younger generation, to other gymnasts.” Because they are charged with energy, charged to train specifically in rhythmic gymnastics,” she said.

The training camp for gymnasts from Congo at the Academy was organized by the Alina Kabaeva Charitable Foundation, which covered all the costs.
