“I prepared the girls to think of the competition as a holiday!” Academy coach Elizaveta Chernova talks about the mAlinka tournament

At the mAlinka tournament, Academy coach Elizaveta Chernova not only brought her students from free early development groups onto the floor, but also judged older athletes.

She summed up how her students performed.

“ Personally, I had a good day. I am very happy with the results of my girls, my groups. This is because they are so young: my girls are three and four. And they managed to go onto the floor, to such large stage with viewers, with judges, and perform everything. This was actually the competition, this was thrilling, responsible, but children coped with that. And thanks to parents for support,” Elizaveta said.

The coach talked about how she prepared the gymnasts ahead of the performance.

“We repeated everything during workouts, how to go to the floor, how to leave it, how to show everything properly, how to stand and what count should be. We also endeavored to support them from the psychological standpoint. I personally talked to girls, told them that the competition is the festival, so that they were not too anxious, so that they coped. I think we succeeded,” she said.

Elizaveta Chernova also appreciated the efforts of our athletes.

“My group had the same leotards, similar hair style and a bit of makeup, the simplest. And they appeared good, nicely but were rated probably exactly for preparation, for what they did on the floor,” the coach said.

Elizaveta also spoke about her judging experience.

“There was an artistic team, a performance team, a team of objects and elements. I judged girls who were not quite little, but already older. They’re already performing, they’ve got the whole routine, and they were judged on the way they performed,”  she said.
