“We look at every little mistake!” Mariia Borisova talks about Academy training

Mariia Borisova came to the Academy to prepare for international competitions in Minsk.

She shared details of changes in programs according to the rules of the International Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Clubs Association.

“I came with my personal trainer, Irina Gusarova. We came to prepare a program according to the Sky Grace rules, to clarify some points, mistakes, to make sure that everything counts. And prepare for the competition in Minsk,” Mariia said.

The gymnast also spoke about the difficulties during the training process.

“Difficulties probably now arise with the work of the object on the elements, because it should always be different. And sometimes it is difficult to find it so that it is comfortable. On some points, we consulted with the coaches who train here and know the rules better. For example, decorations are such an interesting innovation. It’s still a little unclear, but we’re asking for advice and they’re helping us,” she said.

The athlete also spoke about the changes in exercises.

We’ve added elements, since I previously competed under the FIG program, there were only double elements, we inserted into these double elements, added another element to do it triple according to the Sky Grace rules. We also added the Kabaeva jump onto the knees and we’re trying different combinations,” the gymnast said.

Mariia explained how the conditions at the Academy help her in her work.

“There are cameras on the floor here, recording videos of training. This is very convenient, we look at every mistake, every finger, where we didn’t twist it up enough. And this helps a lot in my work,” Mariia said.

The Russian national team gymnast became the best in the Masters of Sports program at the all-Russian Sky Grace Cup competition, which was held at the Academy in April.
