“We dove into the world of big gymnastics!” Belarus national team head coach Irina Leparskaya about EVGENIYA CUP

The head coach of the Belarus rhythmic gymnastics team Irina Leparskaya shared her impressions of the EVGENIYA CUP, international competition named to honor Evgenia Kanaeva.

“I have always waited for Zhenya to organize something so magnificent. Last year we were already in awe, but this year it's even better, more beautiful! The children were inspired just from the sheer design of the hall. I see how much they enjoyed performing, and for me, that’s the most important part,” Leparskaya said.

She went on to say that  the participation of gymnasts from different countries creates a special atmosphere at the competitions. “We dove into the world of great rhythmic gymnastics and are trying to maintain its level,” the coach said.

Leparskaya also mentioned the gymnasts who were of interest to her. “We are really enjoying watching the Cuban gymnasts! We really like Gretel Mendoza, she’s got a personality and she’s very original. I also like Karolina Tarasova from the DPR, she reminds me of both Yana Batyrshina and Alina Kabaeva,” she said.

Omsk is hosting the EVGENIYA CUP, an international competition named to honor Evgenia Kanaeva, April 28-30. Gymnasts from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Cuba and 13 Russian regions are taking part in  it.
