Mariia Borisova summed up the third stage of the Cup of the Strongest and shared her impressions of the tournament

After the third stage of the Cup of the Strongest, Mariia Borisova from St. Petersburg explained what she conveys to the audience during her hoop routine:

"I'm probably thinking about Alexei Yagudin's routine at the Olympics, since we were inspired by his choreography. For me, it's probably a fun, carefree story. Winter is probably even a New Year's thing, a New Year's miracle, that's how I would describe it."

The gymnast also shared her impressions of the tournament and details of her preparation:

"It was a good tournament for medals, but I'm not entirely happy with my performance, especially in the final. I can't say I was angry, but I was definitely collected and probably a little drained emotionally. That is, I came out with a clear head, calm and confident. We worked primarily on consistency, so we could complete all events without any losses. Alina Kabaeva and I went from hoop to ribbon at every control training session. We also got feedback after the run-throughs about elements or losses. We made corrections across all the teams, both in terms of artistry and execution. We got comments about areas to improve. We took them into account and corrected them during subsequent training sessions."

The athlete noted the important advice given by Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva and thanked her mentors for their support:

"Alina Kabaeva always tells me to pay attention to the apparatus and to rest on the blue carpet, on the couch, after the run-through, when it's all over. And to maintain complete control of the apparatus from start to finish. I want to thank Irina Gusarova for being with me throughout the entire preparation, for literally sitting in the gym from morning until night and practicing. Thank you so much!"

At the third stage of the Cup of the Strongest, the athlete took first place in the all-around and won gold medals in the ball, clubs, and ribbon finals. Her coach is Irina Gusarova, and her choreographer is Elena Egorova.
