How do preschoolers at the Academy learn English? Teacher Alina Gafiyatullina and coach Olesya Kovaleva tell us

Teacher Alina Gafiyatullina told us how preschoolers from free early development groups learn English.

"We study English in the process of playing, it all happens very actively, always cheerfully, enthusiastically. And if the first year of training was built on the fact that we introduced a lot of vocabulary — these are the names of body parts, for example,  movement verbs, these are colors, this is counting, then the second year of studying English here is already aimed at children being able to navigate in space. I use a lot of terms that are needed for sports, among other things. And now we see that when we work in collaboration with coaches, they begin to speak English with them, the children understand commands, understand where they need to turn, right, left, for example," Alina said.

She explained why these activities are important for girls.

"Our future athletes, of course, need English. In the future, I think that when they go to some competitions, championships abroad, for them, of course, there will be absolutely no language barriers, because it will be easy for them to use, since they’ve been studying it from a young age," she said.

The girls consolidate the knowledge they have gained in the gym. Academy coach Olesya Kovaleva noted that thanks to such practice, the athletes remember words better.

"During the training process, the girls receive commands and instructions in English. And this gives them more opportunities to remember, and so that they store everything in their memory through movement. At first, the girls may have questions. They say, “What does that mean?” They don’t understand what they are learning, but in fact, learning happens very well through the connection with movement," Olesya said.
