“It’s necessary to find an approach to every child” Coach Olga Zorkina about classes with children with special needs

Rhythmic gymnastics coach from St.Petersburg Olga Zorkina talked about how training for children with special needs disabilities takes place at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy charitable training camp.

“Of course, it is necessary to be demanding, can’t avoid that. Also discipline, this also teaches children. But at the same time, it was necessary to be very demanding, active, and engage children, including engage them emotionally. When emotions turn on, children become very malleable,” Olga said.

The coach added that the influence of rhythmic gymnastics changes both the children and their parents. “When they understand that this is a serious, responsible matter, and start participating in competitions, then, of course, there is progress. This is provided that children perform at competitions in swimsuits, with hairstyles. They know that this is a responsibility, that they have prizes, so they are preparing for the competition. This is all very interesting for everyone,” the coach said.

In addition, the coach emphasized the importance of the individual method in working with special needs children. “It is necessary to find a special approach to each child, because each has its own specifics, there is no way without it. An approach can be found for absolutely any child, even a very difficult one,” Olga said.

“What I’ve taken is that after working with these children, working with simple, ordinary children, I am not afraid of anything at all. As a coach, I can do anything,” she said.

Charitable training camps for children from Kazan are held at the Alina Kabaeva Sky Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy from June 1-8.
