Choreographer and coach Ekaterina Baiborodina shares the secrets of inspiration and program preparation ahead of the Sky Grace Cup

Choreographer and coach Ekaterina Baiborodina shared the secrets of inspiration and program preparation of programs of her student Kira Kopteva from the Moscow region.

“All the compositions of my gymnasts have been based on musical sense, dance sense as early as from the last season.  But decorations, some interesting tricks rated in the Sky Grace were added. I try to do something that nobody else performs. However, there is a need to think it over not for a day and not for two. Sometimes it happens that a year and two years may pass and something interesting will be generated. I watch some videos, not necessarily gymnastics ones, something is spotted from acrobatics, from circus art. Music inspires. As soon as the music appears, I have pictures appearing in my head at once on the same second. Sometimes I even wake up at night and think, ‘Yes, this music is exactly for this gymnast.’ By the way, tricks sometimes also emerge when sleeping. I wake up, go to a workout and say, ‘We will do it this way’,” Ekaterina said.

The specialist also noted that competitions such as the interregional tournament at the Academy help gymnasts gain experience.

“The more competitions the better. Gymnasts are building up their experience. This is such an opportunity for children to perform here in such a wonderful hall,” she said.

Her student Kira Kopteva became the champion of the interregional Sky Grace Cup competition in the Master of Sports Candidate program in the Central Federal District. Ekaterina Bayborodina is the choreographer of the Alina festival in 2023 and 2024.
