Evgeniya Eliseeva sum up the performance of her students at the international tournament in Baku
Academy coach Evgeniya Eliseeva came to the international Winter Fairytale tournament in Baku with two students - Anna Vakulenko from Volgograd and Malika Timurshina from Kazan. She shared in detail how the girls presented themselves and how they prepared for the start.
Evgeniya noted that Malika was able to cope with the excitement and perform successfully.
"I've had Malika for a very short time. I've had her for literally two weeks. The child comes out on the floor, and she can pull herself together at the competition and do more than I expect from her. I really like children like that, because it is a very big bonus, so to speak. And she showed who she is from this point of view to me. The stress level was off the charts. She understood that this was a high-ranking competition, after all, she understood that Alina Kabaevva would be watching her. But when she approached the floor, you know, she was absolutely with it, calm. I was very pleased, very pleased," Evgeniya said.
She also shared the conclusions that she drew after Anna’s performances.
"With Anya it’s a little different. We had very little time. After Qatar we changed the program according to the FIG rules. And Anya is the kind of child who needs time to put everything in its place, to sort everything out in her head. She’s very tall, there are certain difficulties with coordination. That is, she needs time for this to become automatic. Our programs haven’t reached this level yet. What conclusion did we come to? That we simply need to bring the program to the automatic mode, so that when she approaches the site, she is confident in herself a thousand percent worth. And we will definitely do it," the coach said.
Evgeniya thanked Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva for the opportunity to take part in international tournaments and gain experience.
"Many thanks to Alina Kabaeva, of course. We are growing from competition to competition, and I am very grateful that she gives us the opportunity for this growth," she said.
At the Winter Fairytale competition in Baku, Anna Vakulenko won two gold and one bronze medal, and Malika Timurshina became a three-time champion.
