“It develops rhythm and control of your body!” Andrey Brykanov talks about modern dance classes at the Academy training camp
At the training camp at the Academy, Andrei Brykanov, teacher and choreographer at Alla Dukhova's TODES ballet, holds modern dance classes.
He explained why gymnasts need to learn hip-hop.
“I came to the training camp to teach dance, modern dance. I would like the girls to feel freedom in different swings and feel some points, their body in space from the position of modern choreography,” Andrey said.
The teacher also explained how modern dance classes are developed among female athletes and how to apply these skills on the floor.
“ Because in hip-hop, let’s say, we were doing hip-hop now, where you can pump at the same tempo, but you can do the movements shorter, faster. The duration increases, then we do it smoothly, then we split it up. That is, these things, when we teach girls, they develop the rhythm quite a bit, controls the body, and frees the body up. I think this is very useful. Because in hip-hop, let’s say, we were doing hip-hop now, where you can pump at the same tempo, but you can do the movements shorter, faster.
