“This hall is very important and memorable for us!” Irina Leparskaya on returning to the Beijing Olympic Arena

The head coach of the Belarusian rhythmic gymnastics team, Irina Leparskaya, shared her emotions about returning to the Olympic Arena of the Beijing University of Technology, where the Sky Grace-2023 tournament is taking place.

“This hall is very important and memorable for us. This is the hall where the 2008 Olympic Games were held, and where Inna Zhukova received a silver medal, which is very memorable for us. That is why we feel a special connection. I hope that everyone here will be as lucky as we were in 2008,” the coach said.

According to the rules of the Sky Grace International Association of Rhythmic Gymnastics Clubs, athletes perform with five objects: a jump rope, a hoop, a ball, clubs and a ribbon. Irina Leparskaya spoke about the preparation of Belarusian gymnasts for the pentathlon competition format.

“It took us a long time to get ready for the tournament. The jump rope is a new object for us. The new is the well-forgotten old. For some it was forgotten, for others it was a start from scratch, so everything was not that easy. But it’s interesting to move forward,” Irina said.

The third international Sky Grace tournament is taking place in the capital of China, December 15 to 17.
