Dina and Arina Averina talk about the specifics of the meeting between the national teams of Russia and Belarus

Multiple world champions Dina and Arina Averina took part in the opening ceremony of the international Cup of the Strongest Athletes of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus tournament.

Arina spoke about the specifics of the meeting between the national teams of Russia and Belarus:

"I think it is a very correct decision that the strongest gymnasts compete with each other. Namely, the leaders of the Belarusian team and the leaders of the Russian team. Here, everyone has gathered, the whole team, and it will be interesting to watch their struggle. Everyone has worthy programs, interesting, complex. Let the judges choose which programs are more difficult, more interesting and more beautiful."

She also shared how their most unusual elements were born in a dream and embodied in training:

"Sometimes it happened purely by chance. Or we would have a dream that we were doing some unrealistic things. Or Irina Zenovka could also come to the hall in the morning and say: "Oh! I had this dream, let’s try it." Also our personal trainer Vera Shatalina. She also came — she had some ideas. All together, as a team, we sat and thought."

Dina added that Belarusian gymnasts also served as inspiration:

"We also looked at the Belarusian gymnasts, because they really stood out with an interesting transition, apparatus."
