Dina and Arina Averina share the memories of their performances at the Alina Kabaeva Grand Prix Champions Cup

The multiple world champions Dina and Arina Averina took part in the opening ceremony of the Alina Kabaeva Champions Cup Grand Prix.

After their performance, Dina recalled how she overcame her nervousness before going out on the mat during her competitions:

"I reassured myself that this was a new program, and I wanted to show everyone what they had set for me, what I had managed to work on. On the contrary, I was happy to go out on the floor and show the new program to the judges, especially the audience," Dina said.

Arina spoke about the importance of this tournament for gymnasts at the beginning of the season.

"Every year our season began with the Moscow Grand Prix. It was exciting because the programs were new, still raw, not worked through. You go out for the first time and you don’t even know where you can lose it, drop it. And, probably, that’s why I wasn’t so worried," Arina said.

Dina also shared warm memories of last year’s master classes at the Academy.

"All the kids are good, capable, coordinated, and it was very easy to work with them. And they even helped us somewhere — where to add, how to catch better. It was very interesting to work with them," she said.
